Where to Stay

Update 6/19/2014: If you still don't have a place to stay, that is a major #FAIL. And is also something we'd do...

The Berkshires are an ideal country getaway from New York City, host to a wide range of country-style inns and B&Bs. We have reserved four of our favorite spots for our guests to fully take over for the weekend.

"Official" Wedding Lodging

The four wedding accommodations we've reserved offer special rates for our guests and have agreed to require two-night minimums rather than the three-night mins generally required during the summer season.

Wheatleigh, Kemble Inn & The Apple Tree Inn are in Lenox, MA (the heart of the Berkshires), and are within a mile of each other. The Inn At Richmond is in, well, Richmond, MA and is closer to the wedding venue, as well as to James' grandmother.  Shuttle buses will circulate among these four inns and the wedding venue on the day of the wedding.

If you decide to stay elsewhere, please consider choosing a location within a walking distance from one of the "official" hotels so that you may take advantage of our wedding shuttle.  We don't want you to drink and drive.  Scroll down to see our recommendations for additional lodgings nearby.

Already know that you won't (shan't?) make it? -- Send us an email.

Wheatleigh -- FULL

Commonly ranked among the world's leading hotels, Wheatleigh is a 16th century Florentine-style palazzo on an estate landscaped by Frederick Olmstead (of Central Park fame) in the middle of the Berkshires that somehow makes sense. The industrialist Henry H. Cook built it in 1893 for his daughter Georgie upon her marriage to a Spanish Count as a reward for bringing a title into the family. Nailed it, Georgie!

We're excited that our wedding guests can have this little slice of paradise to themselves for the weekend. Read Zhenya's blog post about our midsummer BBQ dinner outing there. And some recent press here and here that we've enjoyed.

  • Price: $$$$
  • 19 rooms
  • Call (413) 637-0610 and mention us to receive the wedding rate.

The Inn At Richmond -- FULL

It has history (built in 1776) and horses (on the site of the Berkshire Equestrian Center). We're big fans!

The Apple Tree Inn -- FULL

A beautiful country B&B across the street from Tanglewood, with a wide range of room and suite types, atop a hill, with great views and a large outdoor pool. It has some pretty rad antiques and vintage architecture, and was actually the final site of Alice's Restaurant!

  • 34 rooms
  • Call (413) 637-1477 and mention our wedding to receive the special rate.

The Kemble Inn  -- FULL

A newly renovated 1896 mansion with gorgeous mountain views that brings a touch of sleek and modern country to the Berkshires. James is particularly taken with the heated floors in the bathrooms. Make sure to spend some time on the Philippe Starck chairs in the "Queen's Room" off the lobby.

  • 13 rooms

Additional "Unofficial" Lodging Options

These inns are across the street from Kemble Inn, where the wedding shuttle stops:

  • Hampton Terrace B&B Inn
    • Price: $$
    • Call (413) 637-1773 and mention our wedding to receive the special rate (rate may have expired).
  • Gateways Inn
    • Price: $$$
    • Call 1-888-492-9466 and mention our wedding.

These inns are a bit further afield, but still walkable to the shuttle:

We have also reserved a wedding block at The Red Lion Inn. It does not offer a special wedding rate and is a bit out of the way -- a 15-20 minute drive from the other hotels (25-minute drive from the wedding venue) -- and is NOT on the wedding shuttle bus route. However, it is a historic institution where Important historic people stayed during Important historic events including Wars and such. So that's fun.  Even though there is no special rate, do mention our wedding anyway. Because why not?

Alternatively, check out what's available through AirBnB and VRBO in the area, especially if you are considering an extended stay.

Please let us know where you decide to stay!
